What started off as a simple gesture to welcome the freshmen who arrived in Volgograd has now become a Jesus
Embassy tradition. Three years ago, “Wassup! Making new friends “
began as a simple party . We had dance performances, games, music and off coarse
food. This year, by the grace of God we carried on the tradition

Wassup! Making new friends 2008 kicked off with a number from our Russian youth. Needless to say, the band was spectacular. By 6.30 in the evening , a crowd of about a hundred and thirty
people had already filled the hall. This year, we were joined by Russian guests
as compared to the previous years. For one and a half hour, we kept our guest
on their feet and cheering for more especially after a contemporary dance by
the LIFE dance group. It was obvious that the freshmen were initially a little
abashed and shy but after some ice breaking and games they went right into the
mood. To top it, our very own drama team pulled a hilarious skit of a commencing
Russian class, which turned out to be outrageously funny. The last item for
the night was a performance by “Audience Of One”, a band by our
very own Jesus Embassy members. The musicians got the crowd all hyped up and
cheering but had to turn down the volume after three songs, to make way for
food. Our audience were initially disappointed but not for long.

This year the menu for the day was Asian cuisine, Chinese and Indian cooking to be exact. Our guests tucked into portions of sweet and sour chicken and curried vegetable mix. In
short the food was delightful. When it seemed that all fun is about to end,
we extended yet another invitation: XMAS Bash 2008, which is to be coming soon.

It is humbling to know how we started off with this event and where have we arrived to. In everything that we do, all thanksgiving and glory to our father in heaven

Jesus Embassy organized a 'welcome party' for the new batch of students on Saturday the 6th of October. The party which started at 7pm received an overwhelming response. Over 70 students from Nigeria, India, China, Vietnam, Turkey, Malaysia and Russia turned up for the party. Keat Leong and Lily who were the MCs, kick-started the party with an ice breaker. Our guest were required to get to know 5 new friends from different parts of the world, these people enthusiastically got out of their seats to shake new hands and exchange sweet smiles. Ice breaking session was then followed by a very tricky game called "Yes and No", where the interviewee must never ever use the word 'Yes' and 'No' when answering the interviewer's questions. Listening to their answers was really amusing. Our dear guests were also taught to dance to a song called 'The Cannibal King' by Johanan. Chuckles and laughter could be heard as Johanan showed the groovy dance moves. To add to all these, Bollywood actors and actresses from Impressions of God came up with an impressive sketch, about introducing Jesus Embassy and its ministries.

Later on, Kelvin came up and shared some words with the people. The verse he quoted from the bible was very true, 'Mix with the wise, and you will become wise; mix with the fools, and trouble will come upon you'. He mentioned about the importance of making friends and supporting each other in this foreign land. Vinodh, Keat Leong and few others hyped the party up when they started break-dancing, flashing some really bone-breaking cool moves. Towards the end of the party, food was being served. On the menu was delicious-finger-licking-good spicy curry chicken and salad. All was grabbed to the last bit. After dinner, a video-clip of Dennis the leader of Jesus Embassy saying 'priviet' from Malaysia was being showed on screen along with other clips of Jesus Embassy's activities. All the fun, joy and laughter came to a temporary end, when it started to get late. Sad to say it was already 9.30pm.However it is just the beginning of many new friendships and more parties that rock.
